Appalachian Legacy

FAQ's

How much is a ticket?

The price per ticket of this retreat is $1,500. The retreat is limited to 7 photographers for ease of movement during the retreat and to allow me the opportunity to work one-on-one with those who would like the help. A portion of your ticket will also go towards the efforts of the Appalachian Legacy Initiative.

Where will we be staying?

Attendees are responsible to secure their own lodging for this getaway. We will be working in the Lovely, KY area and there are some wonderful clean and affordable motels/hotels in the area. Attendees will also have the option to stay in tents provided by ALI on the sanctuary grounds! More info on those will be provided closer to the date of the workshop.

Where should I fly in to?

The closest airport is Huntington Tri-State Airport (HTS). Please be aware this is a small airport that may require that you fly in a day earlier in order to secure a flight. Another option is to fly in to Blue Grass Airport (LEX) or John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). However attendees who take this option will be responsible for their own car rental and drive to our shooting location.

How will we get around?

A portion of your ticket goes toward the rental of a vehicle to shuttle all attendees to and from Huntington Tri-State Airport, hotels, and any places around town they may need to go.

Are meals included?

I will provide water and some snack items, but meals are not included in the ticket cost.

When and where will we be shooting?

Erin will take us out each morning and late afternoon to search for the herds and photograph them. We will also be having informal classes and editing sessions during our down time.

Who can attend?

Anyone! Regardless if you are a professional with a business or someone just wanting to shoot something new and fun, these getaways are for everyone. I only ask that you have a basic understanding of manual mode on your camera and some form of editing software (Lightroom and/or Photoshop) on your computer.

What should I bring?

You'll need a DLSR or mirrorless camera, a portrait and/or zoom lens, and your computer with editing software. If you don't own the lens you think you'll need for this trip then I highly recommend using LensRentals.com. Click on the link for a discount from me.
